dr. horrible maquetteJust in time for Valentine's Day comes this lovely Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog maquette. OK, it actually doesn't come out until February 24, but who cares about Valentine's Day anyway? Not Dr. Horrible, that's for sure. He's too busy slicing off the diseased head of the human race – and, er, doing laundry -- to be bothered with such a corporate-manufactured holiday.

No special occasion is needed to enjoy this cool limited figure, which features the doctor holding his deadly freeze ray and shaking his fist at the world. Sadly, you can't buy a PhD in horribleness, but you can pre-order this awesome little item for about $69. Tell your friends.

Head after the jump for the specs.

It's time for the first annual SciFi Squad Holiday Gift Buying Guide. But before we get to the goodies, a few things worth nothing.

- You're probably well aware that things like Star Trek and Watchmen are already out on DVD and Blu-ray. You'll not find them listed here.

- If you can walk into any Barnes & Noble and come face-to-face with a book, it's probably not going to be listed here.

- SciFi Squad is getting no kick backs for anything on this list. If it's here, it's because we think it's cool, and that's it. If it links to a specific store, that's purely for convenience as most of these products are available anywhere.

- The categories are: Books, Blu-ray Collector's Editions, Clothes, Gaming, Random Items, and, my favorite, Expensive Items That Look Like They're From the Future.

Looking to nerd up your plain old everyday high-fives? Try the Sci-Five. It's perfect for celebrating all kinds of geeky conquests with your friends, like snagging the last copy of the latest Maxim at the newsstand, or getting Simon Pegg's autograph at Comic-Con. It's easy to do. As pictured in the T-shirt above, just grab a friend, make a Spock Prime-patented Vulcan salute with your hands and slap away. (Also recommended for first contact situations.)

This great shirt comes to us from the good folks at TopatoCo. Feel free to point us to more geeky goods in the comments.

Hear me out. I know times are tough, but someone once said the greatest gift is the gift of giving, right? Well, I think what they meant to say was the greatest gift is the gift of giving me, a complete stranger, the bones of a dinosaur. So why not start lifting up those couch cushions and scrounge together enough scratch to buy me the world's 3rd most complete skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex? It's only a scant $6 million, so I'll understand if it takes a few minutes to gather up the coins. Oh, and considering Samson, as he is called, is over 40 feet long and weighs roughly 7.5 tons and I don't live next door to the auction house in Vegas selling him on October 3rd., it'd be really cool of you to spot the shipping costs as well.

What am I going to do with a the world's third most complete T. Rex, you ask? Well, I've already set into motion a complex plan of turning my backyard into a real Jurassic Park. Without your generous donation of a T. Rex, kidnapping Jeff Goldblum will just seem weird.

With Halloween practically right around the corner, there are probably many of you who are looking to put together that perfect Harry Potter costume. Perhaps you just want a magical gift for yourself or for a diehard Potter fan in your life. Either way, you can't go wrong with an authentic Harry Potter wand from Whirlwood.

There are a lot of replica wands floating around (Noble Collection being the foremost among them) but this is as close as you'll get to shopping at Ollivander's. Not only are they actually handmade of wood as opposed to resin, but they're also filled with unicorn hair, phoenix feathers, tarantula legs, crystals, and all the other totems that power up a wizard or witch's wand. If you're lucky enough to meet the Whirlwood gang in person, you can give the entire line a swish and flick. Otherwise, you'll have to visit the website where you can find wands replicating those found in the movies (Hermione's is absolutely lovely) or copying the description found in the books. You diehard fans will know the difference. Oh, and speaking of diehard fans -- you lovers of Robert Pattinson will find a Cedric Diggory design made just for you.

If you ever read my posts and think "I don't know about this geek stuff, Elisabeth seems awfully cool," this Sunday actually found me at the Whirlwood shop doing a lot of swishing and flicking. The above wand was the one I kept going back to, and the Mr. Ollivander on duty said "That's the one for you. I see the connection." The original owner of the wand? Voldemort. Such is the power of the Dark Lord that I actually left the wand behind only to find it waiting for me the next morning thanks to my sister and her boyfriend who felt I really ought to have it. I've been practicing my Unforgiveable Curses ever since.
