Welcome to Captain's Log -- your (semi) daily round-up of sci-fi randomness from around the web. Here's what's happening:

While trying to see if Willem Dafoe was in the running to play the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman, MTV learned that he almost had a much bigger gig: The Caped Crusader himself.

Screen Daily reports that Xavier Gens, the man behind Hitman, will helm a new post-apocalyptic action thriller called The Fallout.

Green Hornet is one of those projects that could easily be so very bad, but Seth Rogen told SciFi Wire that's he's doing everything he can to make sure it doesn't suck.

io9 calls Battlestar Galactica: The Plan a fan-only release that feels like "a gussied-up clip show."

An Irish martial arts fantasy with drool-worthy visuals? Check out the trailer for The Cup of Tears over at Twitch.

Meanwhile, Felicia Day has shared two pieces of awesomeness: a short where she schools a clueless filmmaker about the truth behind exploding and colliding galaxies for NASA, and a Guild Halloween bonus.

Quiet Earth
reminds us that Toronto fell victim to zombies again on the 24th. I wonder if anyone was punched?

Welcome to Captain's Log -- your (semi) daily round-up of sci-fi randomness from around the web. Here's what's happening today:

- Make fun all you want, but I'm a big fan of the Gary Ross film Pleasantville. So I'm happy to hear that Ross, who is also working on The Creature from the Black Lagoon, is re-writing Spider-Man 4 for Sam Raimi. Of course, the script has reportedly been re-worked more times than we'd like to admit. Hopefully Spidey 4 won't end up playing like three or four different movies shoehorned into one.

- More superhero movie news: EW tells us that Cameron Diaz is in talks to play the female lead, opposite Seth Rogen, in The Green Hornet.

- The recent premiere of Syfy's Warehouse 13 drew more viewers than the Battlestar Galactica finale. Check out our review of the premiere.

More sci-fi awesomeness after the jump.

Welcome to Captain's Log -- your (semi) daily round-up of sci-fi randomness from around the web. Here's what's happening today:

- AICN has a list of the added/reworked scenes from Zack Snyder's Watchmen Director's Cut. It features a lot more dialogue and violence than the theatrical version. Surprise!

- Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosarus earned $13.8 million Wednesday, taking the top box office spot from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Maybe next time Michael Bay will deliver the Dinobots instead of close-ups of John Turturro's ass and giant Decepticon balls.

- You know the Beyond Thunderdome-esque get-up Mickey Rourke is wearing in that Iron Man 2 set photo? Turns out that's probably only for an early scene. Rourke will be outfitted in more imposing Crimson Dynamo/Whiplash armor later on in the movie.

More sci-fi awesomeness after the jump.
