lost recon abc

Here's a look at tonight's sci-fi TV:

Lost, "Recon" – We haven't seen much of Sawyer in the past few weeks, but the former Lafleur makes a big comeback on tonight's all-new episode. Our favorite literature lovin' grifter locks eyes and butts heads with a dangerous con woman in the sideways world. Back on the island, the Lockeness Monster sends Sawyer on a mission while Kate deals with Crazy Claire (Watch your back Kate!). (9 p.m. ET on ABC)

FlashForward, "What Did You See?" – If you're like me, you're just waiting to see Battlestar Galactica's James Callis show up on FlashForward to tell Joseph Fiennes and crew to go frak themselves and stop obsessing over the blackout already! Well, that's not gonna happen tonight, because this is just a clip show that recaps the first half of the season. (10 p.m. ET on ABC)

Chuck Versus the Tic Tac

Here's a look at tonight's sci-fi TV:

Chuck, "Chuck Versus the Tic Tac" - The T-1000 himself, Robert Patrick, shows up on tonight's Chuck as an important figure from Casey's past. Chuck and Sarah team up to help Casey work a mission for his old handler while Morgan and Awesome help Chuck win back Sarah's heart. This sounds like a Casey-centric episode, which should please all the Browncoats out there. (8 p.m. ET on NBC)

Here's a look at tonight's sci-fi TV:

Caprica, 'The Imperfections of Memory' – Joseph tours the V-world in search of Tamara and gets lost in the ultraviolent New Cap City game. Zoe takes a break from her mission to fly a virtual Viper (that's right!) with the geeky Graystone Industries tech. Back at Graystone Manor, Amanda begins to have strange visions about her dead brother, leading Clarice to exploit her vulnerable state. (9 p.m. ET on Syfy)

lost dr. linus preview

Here's a look at tonight's sci-fi TV:

Lost, 'Dr. Linus' – We jump back to the sideways world and catch up with Ben, who's working in Los Angeles as a simple schoolteacher (or is he an evil schoolteacher?) alongside our old buddy Arzt. On the island, Ben is forced to face the consequences of his lies while Team Jacob learn about The Lockness Monster's attack on the temple. Tonight's ep is supposedly the start of the season's second act. While I'm not exactly sure what that means, I'm excited about discovering what kind of person Ben turns out to be when he's not surrounded by Dharma bums, ageless others, smoke monsters, and killer polar bears. (9 p.m. ET on ABC)

lost 365There's no shortage of blog posts about Lost fan art on the Interweb, especially since funnyman Paul Scheer got the ball rolling in a big way last year. But superfan Jared Stumpenhorst's latest labor of Lost love deserves a mention.

To celebrate the show's final season, the graphic designer is creating a new piece of art inspired by Lost every day this year. Stumpenhorst calls the effort 'Lost 365', and so far he's created 31 awesome tributes to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse's addictive island saga.

You can check out Stumpenhorst's clever and imaginative art on his blog. My favorites include the bright piece inspired by Sawyer, a Dharma bunnies poster, and his interpretation of Fake Locke, or Flocke (or whatever the Internet is calling him these days). You can also follow the artist on Twitter, and remember to tell him SciFi Squad sent ya.

Here's a look at tonight's sci-fi TV:

Chuck, 'Chuck Versus the Beard' – Things start to fall apart for Chuck when his flashing abilities go kaput and the team ditches him to work on a dangerous mission. Sounds like our boy could use a little lovin' from Kristin Kreuk's Hannah -- too bad he dumped her last week! Diedrich Bader and Reno 911's Cedric Yarbrough guest star on tonight's ep, directed by star Zachary Levi and featuring the return of Jeffster! (8 p.m. ET on NBC)

jewel staite, warehouse 13, fireflyIt wasn't love at first sight for me and Syfy's Warehouse 13. The first few episodes showed some promise, but the series' fun and kooky concept was weighed down by a batch of stale case-of-the-week procedural plots. Thankfully, things got better as the first season progressed. The show got funnier and weirder, and it took on a more serial tone, leading to a thrilling season ender that left me jonesing for more.

And more is on the way. Syfy says production on the 13-episode second season officially kicks off this month, for a premiere on July -- you guessed it -- 13! The ol' relic hunitin' gang -- Saul Rubinek, Eddie McClintock, Joanne Kelly, Allison Scagliotti, and CCH Punder -- is gettng back together to take down big bad MacPherson (Roger Reese) and to bag some more supernatural souvenirs. And just like last year, the show will welcome some geek-friendly guest stars in season two.

The first will be Jewel Staite, aka Firefly/Serenity's Kaylee. Staite tweeted the news about her upcoming guest appearance earlier this week:

"Got offered a lovely role on Warehouse 13. Wish I could tell you more. All I can say is, you Browncoats are gonna freak," she posted.

So what's so "freaky" about Staite's Warehouse role? Will she be playing a spaceship mechanic? Will she appear as twins, with one twin acting like Kaylee and the other walking and talking like Dr. Keller from Stargate Atlantis? Whatever the case, I can't wait to see her, and the show, return to TV.

I'm not much of a fantasy reader myself (I hone closer to sci-fi more often than not), but a lot of my friends are. When I told them that HBO had ordered a pilot for a potential series based on George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones novel series, I'm pretty sure each one of them tried to hide a geekgasm. I shudder at the thought of how they'll feel now that HBO has now gone beyond the pilot and ordered a full 10-episode first season for the long-term hopeful.

The plan is to begin filming the series this June with a premiere date some time next spring. Though Martin himself has a history of TV writing (he has a few Twilight Zone episodes under his belt and was also a producer/writer on Beauty and the Beast), show duties will reside with David Benioff and Dan Weiss. The goal is to turn each of Martin's books into a single season, which currently gives Benioff and Weiss four season's worth of material to work with if the show does well.

HBO has released the first still from the pilot, which you can glimpse above, but if you head over to The Hollywood Reporter you can find a much larger version of the picture as well as a few more details on the series. THR also has this handy face-to-name casting chart of who all the recurring characters are and who will be playing them, so if you're a fan of the novels give it a glance to see if HBO has done right by what you envisioned or if you fear TV will soon have another Legend of the Seeker travesty on its hands.
