The first day of Comic Con is upon us, and what a busy day it is. The Disney 3D panel seemed to be a success, with the biggest news perhaps being that Tron 2 finally has a legitimate title: Tron Legacy. You can see the official logo for the film above. Here's the brand new synopsis for the highly-anticipated (at least for you 80s kids) sequel:

"TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that's unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous."

We were already well aware that the massive Hall H at this year's San Diego Comic Con was being converted to 3D for some presentations, and most people assumed it was mainly for James Cameron's Avatar. Well, guess again, because Disney just blasted a press release announcing the first-ever 3D Comic Con presentation ... and it looks to be a doozy, folks. I'm talking three-way 3D featuring Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland), Robert Zemeckis (A Christmas Carol) and producers Sean Bailey and Steve Lisberger (TRON). Yup, all three will sit on one panel. Patton Oswalt will moderate the panel, which is described as "an unprecedented presentation featuring behind-the-scenes filmmaker insights about the highly anticipated 3D adventures DISNEY'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL, ALICE IN WONDERLAND and TRON. In addition to Q&A opportunities with each of the filmmakers, the 90-minute panel will feature never-before-seen concept art, trailers, actual 3D film footage and other Comic-Con-only footage debuts."

Now just because Disney called "first" on the 3D panel doesn't mean Avatar won't be joining the party too. Just not before Thursday, July 23 at 11am, as that's when the Mouse House will do their thing. Also on the agenda for Disney (that's not really sci-fi related) is a pretty awesome animation panel with Hayao Miyazaki, John Lasseter and veteran animation directors Lee Unkrich, Kirk Wise, Ron Clements and John Musker. Films featured during this event include Ponyo, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 in 3D, as well as Princess and the Frog. All in all it looks like a pretty exciting event for those heading out west ... and, of course, we'll be there to report back on anything (and everything) we see.
