(Details on Avatar day have been revealed. Here's Elisabeth Rappe reporting for Cinematical with all the info you'll need to make sure you're one of the many who'll be trying to check out footage from one of this year's most talked-about films.)

Just when you were thinking "Say, whatever happened to all that Avatar day talk?", the details have finally come online. According to The Hollywood Reporter, you too can see the footage that made thousands of people lose their minds by getting tickets from AvatarMovie.com starting this Monday. Keep checking the website for information, and the participating IMAX theater nearest you. The tickets will only be available online, and the website will eventually reveal just how and where you get them.

The 16-minute Avatar trailer will show at 6-7 pm on August 21st, sandwiched between IMAX showings of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and will be a blend of what screened at ComicCon, but with some brand new footage added. Though IMAX and Fox are predicting a general geek stampede, they're trying to combat the frenzy by limiting tickets to two per person. (So pick which friend or family member you like the most!) For those of us who don't nab a golden ticket, there's still hope. An alternate, "conventional" trailer will be debuting the same time in 2D and 3D, and will play before Post Grad, Inglourious Basterds, and other summer and fall releases. You won't be able to get away from Avatar footage.

I'm going to sound like a broken record with all the "Oh my gosh, he / she was so nice" remarks, but the happy truth is that all the ComicCon talent I encountered this year was ridiculously nice. Sam Rockwell was no exception. He's exactly as you think he would be: quiet, friendly, low-key. One of my finest moments was having my druthers enough to compliment him on Moon, and he was so flattered it was if he had never been complimented on it before. Call it good acting, call it being humble, whatever. He's a cool guy, and I feel so bad for being leery of him after his creepy turn in The Green Mile.

Coming up is Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau, so keep reading, they should be up by midweek.

[On whether or not it was fun to be out in Hall H and part of Iron Man 2 -- not sure which, impossible to hear. Sorry readers.]

No, it's exciting to see that trailer, you know? That's an exciting thing, because we just wrapped a week ago.

So you haven't seen dailies or anything?

No, it was really wild to see that. It was really exciting.

One of the cool things looking at this cast, and the people who are making this movie, is that everybody comes from a sort of indie background. I don't want to disparage, but it's real actors and real filmmakers working on this. Does that create a definite vibe on set, a sort of small, indie environment as a result?

It is. It really feels like you're a part of the All-Stars, you really feel like you're there to do something cool. You're right, it's not just a big studio movie with thrills and chills. It's very actor friendly, and cinematically it's just phenomenal. It's big filmmaking, and yet it is very accessible to actors in a way that independent film is. It's very actor friendly for sure. It's cool.

I had dreams of the big scoops of the Iron Man 2 roundtable being up sooner, but I was stuck in the unfortunate position of being seated behind the talent and thus unable to hear any of their soft-spoken quotes. (Or I'd gone deaf from con noise which is quite possible.) But hey, the longer the wait, the sweeter the read!

First out of the gate is Iron Man himself! Allow me to have a fangirl moment as I must say that even staring at the back of Robert Downey Jr.'s head is a thrill. Plus my seat did allow me to get a good look at his awesome choice of footwear, which happened to be the most beautiful pair of lime green tennis shoes. The man is stylish, readers, and unfailingly kind with his time. Thanks to all the outlets present for asking cool questions. I wish I could credit you, but I honestly can't tell any of you apart once you're on my audio.

This year due to being a bit of an "on-call" girl (in the non prostitute sense), I spent more time than usual haunting the convention floor. I keep joking that I'm one of the few con attendees who was "old school" and spent more time shopping for comic books than haunting Hall H for film footage. (By the way, if you go and spend your time shopping, take my advice and just ship your stuff back via Fed Ex. Cheap trades stop being a good idea when you have to carry a sack of them through the airport. Ugh.)

But the culture of ComicCon is something else. I found myself snapping just a lot of random, weird photos just to try and give Cinematical readers a sense of it all. Sure, there's the ever present cosplayers and the loudness of the booth displays, but there's just something about walking down a hallway and finding sleeping Jedis, or realizing what kind of crappy food a Spartan eats in hell. I find that even when I'm in a bad mood (and I was basically in a crappy mood for five blister-filled days) the site of a Jayne hat never fails to make me smile, and even when I'm trying to get past some noisy, crowd-filled area I do stop and marvel at the sheer hugeness of it all. This year it expanded outside the con like never before, with a Heroes carnival and Flynn's Arcade set up outside of the convention center for geeks to have some free fun at.

Hopefully, the photos below give you some idea of what was there -- from the crowds (that's as close as I got to Stark Industries all week!) to the displays. Maybe they'll tempt you to give it a go some year. As I look at my torn up feet and bruised legs, I think you might just have my place in line come 2010 ... !

During the Iron Man 2 panel at Comic Con, one fan asked Jon Favreau whether he'd be directing The Avengers. Good news for fans out there is that Favs definitely wants to be involved in some capacity, and though he hasn't had any discussions with Marvel yet, he has been keen to what they've been doing for Thor and he said that stuff looks pretty spectacular. Towards the end of his answer, Favs noted that his work on Iron Man 2 will be over and done with by the time anything for The Avengers begins, and so perhaps that was his way of telling fans he's interested in the gig.

Not long after the Tron Legacy panel, an awesome teaser trailer arrived online for the sequel. If you're a fan of the original, you'll love this -- and if you've never seen Tron, then I highly suggest you pick that sucker up and watch it before the sequel crashes into theaters next year. The effects here look amazing, and these are only preliminary -- can you imagine what this will look like in 3D? I think we know what next year's most anticipated sci-fi flick will be ... Here's the just-released synopsis:

"TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that's unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous."

Tron Legacy hits theaters in 2010. Watch the teaser trailer after the jump.

While Cinematical has been busy covering all the movie-related Comic Con treats, our sister site TV Squad has been knee deep in all-things boob tube. Similar to film, all the genre-based TV shows bring their stars to Comic Con to preview upcoming seasons and geek out with fellow fans. Today is the biggest day for television at Con, and so we'll report back tomorrow with some of the stuff our friends over at TV Squad managed to uncover -- but in the meantime, here's a taste of what they've been up to so far.

-- Did you know Starz was getting ready to premiere a new show called Spartacus: Blood and Sand? No, it's not Sparta or anything (it actually takes place in Rome and follows the city's most famous gladiator), though the brand new trailer totally looks like Ridley Scott's Gladiator ... if Zack Snyder directed it instead. Seriously, the thing has such a 300 vibe that for a second I thought it was from the same team, but it's not. Know who's behind this? Sam Raimi. Yup, it's Raimi, Rob Talpert (Drag Me to Hell) and Steven S. DeKnight (Smallville) executive producing, while Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess), Peter Mensa (300) and Erin Cummings (Dollhouse) star. The show itself looks bloody, vicious and pretty awesome, especially for those who dug the violence overload in 300.

Watch the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think ...

Ripping a page out of Warner Bros.' Dark Knight book, Disney was responsible for what was perhaps this year's coolest Con-related viral marketing ploy. In honor of Tron Legacy, the studio went live with a website that kept giving folks instructions, sending them on a scavenger hunt until finally unveiling Flynn's Arcade. Yup, they actually rented space and set up an 80s-style arcade with video games including Space Paranoids! Also on display in a secret back room was a light cycle from the new film.

Read Todd's thoughts on the Tron Legacy panel, and head after the jump to see video from Flynn's Arcade at Comic Con.

For the past month, people have asked me to put together a Real Girl's Guide to ComicCon. You probably remember that there was a bit of a stink about the LA Times' attempt at it. A lot of girls have already penned such lists though, and doing my own feels like an attempt to arrive fashionably late, hog some attention, and ignore the work of others. But as I've put together my own schedule, and wondered just what I would put on such a guide, I realized that there's no way in hell I should suggest things for female congoers, or that I would know what they'd like. I say that not as someone who sits on a lofty perch of gender, holding myself separate from my kind, but because women, just like men, have a variety of tastes and opinions.

I wrote something very similar this past March (how long ago that seems already) when Watchmen came out, and the world seemed skeptical that women would go see it. ComicCon is inspiring very similar feelings all around our great media culture, with mockery directed towards the New Moon ticketholders and skepticism directed at the rest of us. There's an ongoing belief that if a woman finds herself at ComicCon, she will be utterly lost and bored, and won't know what to do with herself. Presumably, she will follow her boyfriend or husband around all day, and possibly buy a Wonder Woman hoodie while he's buying a Punisher t-shirt. There will undoubtedly be some women like that, but there will certainly be just as many who bought tickets of their own free will and who will be lining up for Doctor Who and Avatar just like the men are.
