tv geek week

fringe observer

It looks like a pretty standard week TV-wise, unless you're as excited as I am about getting to know more about The Observer on Fringe or watching Zod take over the world on Smallville. Nothing else is really popping out at me this week. I'm hoping V gets more interesting, I'm still trying to wrap my head around all the goings-on at FlashForward central, and I'm still on the fence about The Prisoner.

Read on for this week's TV picks and previews.

Heroes, "Brother's Keeper" – Peter uses his new power to heal Parkman/Sylar (I think we all saw that one coming), and The Haitian reveals the truth about Nathan/Sylar to Peter. Mohinder returns after uncovering yet another conspiracy that puts him on Samuel's radar. (Monday, 8 p.m. on NBC.)

v original miniseries marathon

Fox is putting Dollhouse on the shelf until December, when Summer Glau joins the show, and we'll have to wait another week for a new episode of Fringe, but I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces on Smallville and FlashForward this week. Plus, Syfy has a marathon of the original V miniseries this weekend. Read on for this week's TV picks and previews.

Heroes, "Strange Attractors" – Poor, poor Matt Parkman. It's bad enough that Sylar is living inside his head and driving him batty. Now Sylar is taking over Parkman's body and sleeping with his wife! I wouldn't be surprised if Greg Grunberg is the cast member rumored to be leaving the show, because now seems like a good time for the miserable Parkman to finally off himself. This week's episode also takes us back to Claire's creepy sorority, plus HRG and Nikki team up to help Jeremy, the healer we met last week. (Monday, 8 p.m. ET on NBC.)

heroes lesbian kiss

For those of you who care, tonight you'll get to see Claire Bear kiss a girl on Heroes (or you could just wait until the video pops up online, it really doesn't matter to me). I'm more excited about the next ep of Stargate Universe (I sill don't trust that Dr. Rush) and the return of Batman: The Brave and the Bold to Cartoon Network. Read on for this week's TV picks and previews.

Heroes, "Hysterical Blindness" – Claire gets involved with a kinky sorority and locks lips with her gal pal Gretchen. And as we saw at the tail end of last week's ep, Sylar will rise from Nathan's grave (or his own grave, or ... whatever) and struggle to find himself again. Peter continues to annoy the deaf lady who "sees" sounds. Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson guest stars! (Monday, 8 p.m. on NBC.)

sanctuary syfy season two

Last week's premiere episode of Syfy's Stargate Universe managed to attract more viewers than some network shows, including Fox's Dollhouse, to become the biggest Stargate franchise premiere in four years. The viewer and critical responses to the show were mixed, with some praising its darker look and direction and others calling it tedious and derivative. (We liked it. Thanks for asking.)

We're anticipating another Syfy premiere this week: The cable network welcomes back Amanda Tapping's Sanctuary for season two on Friday. Will the Sanctuary premiere follow Syfy's high-ratings trend set by Warehouse 13 and SGU?

Also this week, Paris Hilton skanks up Supernatural, FlashForward gets more cast members, and zombies attack Smallville! Click through for this week's TV picks and previews.

stargate universe blue carlyle

Dollhouse, Smallville and Heroes were DOA last week. All three shows tanked in the ratings, with Heroes pulling in the biggest numbers at 6.1 million viewers. Dollhouse and Smallville didn't even manage to crack the 3 million mark, with both premieres averaging around 2.5 million viewers. I know it's still early, but I doubt we'll be talking about these shows next season. ABC's FlashForward was a different story. The drama pulled in about 12.5 million viewers for its premiere episode last Wednesday.

I'm expecting decent numbers for Friday's premiere of Stargate Universe on Syfy. Check out a four-minute preview of Friday's premiere, and more clips and TV picks, after the jump.

flashforward flash forward abc

It's time to welcome Dollhouse, Heroes and Smallville back to the TV sked. Will Echo's adventures live up to the promise of last season's finale and "Epitaph One"? Can Heroes turn things around in year four? Will Tom Welling look good wearing an "S" on his chest?? It's time for some answers, people.

Plus, FlashForward debuts on ABC and Warehouse 13 ends it first season on Syfy. Read on for this week's TV picks and video previews.

Heroes, "Orientation" – Circus freaks! Lesbians! Hiro on his deathbed! None of the promised storylines for season four make me want to start watching Heroes again but, surprisingly, NBC's intriguing preview video for tonight's premiere is having the opposite effect. Watch it after the jump. (Monday, 8 p.m. on NBC.)

It's time to welcome fall's slate of new and returning shows and say goodbye to summer's light sci-fi fare. I'm looking forward to catching the final episode of Eureka's third season this week, as well as the second season premiere of Fringe. We've also got new episodes of Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries headed our way, plus Saul Tigh guest stars on Warehouse 13. Read on for this week's TV picks and video previews.

- Warehouse 13, "Nevermore" – Myka's hard-ass dad, played by Battlestar Galactica's Michael Hogan, falls under an Edgar Allan Poe-related artifact's spell. Pete and Myka travel back to Myka's home to try and save daddy before its too late. This episode promises to be a big deal for Myka, who we know has a very rocky relationship with her father. Hopefully, this ep will leave room for Hogan to return in a recurring role. (Tuesday, 9 p.m. on Syfy.)

true blood beyond here lies nothinWe've only got a few more weeks until some of our favorite summer series go into hibernation to make room for fall's slate of new shows, including Stargate Universe, V, Flash Forward and Human Target. We'll be covering those shows and more here on TV Geek Week this fall. We'll also be geeking out over returning shows like Dollhouse, Fringe and Lost. But summer isn't over yet, so check out this week's picks below.

True Blood, "Beyond Here Lies Nothin" - OK, I'll be honest here. We really don't know any more about Sunday's True Blood season finale than we did last week, but we still can't wait to watch. The HBO series has really kicked it up to eleven this season with great drama, horror, humor and mystery. Lots and lots of mystery. Will we find out more about Sookie's supernatural side? Will Jason and Andy help save the day? Will Erik steal Bill's hero moment and make Sookie's steamy V-induced dreams come true? And will someone finally please kill Maryann? I love Michelle Forbes, but isn't it time for her to start filming a guest spot on Stargate Universe or something? Check out the trailer after the jump and this gallery of pics from the season finale. (Sunday, 9 p.m. on HBO.)

true blood warehouse 13

You'll have to wait two more weeks to watch the sure-to-be freaky season finale of HBO's True Blood. Last Sunday's ep, "Frenzy," was one of the series' best yet. We were introduced to Sophie-Anne, the strange, hilarious and decadent Vampire Queen of Louisiana. But everything went to hell in Bon Temps while the Queen kept Bill waiting in her "day room." Lots of new questions were brought up (what's the deal with the egg?), and now it looks like Sookie Stackhouse's darkest night is about to fall.

On the lighter side, Syfy is treating us to a 24-hour Eureka marathon on Friday, and the always-awesome Joe Morton visits Warehouse 13 on Tuesday.

tv geek week warehouse 13 duped true blood evan rachel wood

This week, two of our favorite Eureka residents, Erica Cerra and Niall Matter, visit Warehouse 13 to complicate Pete and Myka's Vegas vacation. And Evan Rachel Wood's Vampire Queen makes her bow -- and gives Bill hell -- in the next awesome and absurd episode of True Blood.

Warehouse 13, "Duped" - The show finally (sort of) broke away from the stale artifact-of-the-week formula last Tuesday by offering a glimpse of Artie's dark past. Things are bound to get weird this week when Myka steps through Lewis Carroll's magical looking glass and is replaced by her slutty, Tesla trigger-happy clone. In case you haven't heard, Eureka's Niall Matter and Erica Cerra are guest starring. I'll let them explain their roles to you in the second video posted below. (Tuesday, 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.)
